Dental Fix Rx Targets California at the Franchise Expo West in Los Angeles

Expanding Mobile Dental Equipment Repair Franchise to Meet with Entrepreneurs During Three-Day Expo

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov 2017)Dental Fix Rx, an expanding mobile dental equipment repair service franchise, will meet with entrepreneurs interested in becoming small-business owners at The Franchise Expo West, Nov. 2-4, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Executives from the company will be set up at booth #600.

Dental Fix Rx is the only U.S. franchise that truly serves the $38 billion dental equipment repair sector. The van-based franchise is revolutionizing the dental service industry by delivering immediate, on-demand equipment service, hand-piece repairs and cost-effective consumable products through its network of highly-trained franchise professionals. To date, Dental Fix Rx:

  • Has granted more than 200 franchises
  • Operates in 37 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces
  • Provides service to more than 25,000 customers throughout North America

The fast-growing franchise expects to award another 40 units before the end of the year and anticipates all U.S. territories to be sold within the next three years.

“Dental Fix Rx is looking to increase its presence in the West, so we are excited to meet with prospective franchisees,” said Scott Mortier, executive vice president of business development for Dental Fix Rx. “This is also their opportunity to meet with Dental Fix Rx franchisees to gain an inside look at a day in the life of a dental equipment repair specialist,”

Dental Fix Rx will waive the initial franchise fee for the purchase of a Dental Fix franchised business for three approved applicants after Franchise Expo West. The initial franchise fee includes the initial training fee for one person. The initial franchise fee will be waived for three qualified and randomly selected individuals who attend the expo and execute the franchise agreement (no earlier than 14 full days after such prospective franchisee receives the Dental Fix Rx Franchise Disclosure Document) (a $25,000 value)*.

Recently, Dental Fix Rx landed on Franchise Times magazine’s 2017 Top 200+ list of top revenue producing U.S.-based franchises. This is the second time the brand has made the prestigious list since 2015. Earlier this year, Dental Fix Rx was named by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the top franchises in the nation with a worldwide presence – Dental Fix Rx ranked No. 115 on the publication’s 2017 Top Global Franchises list. The list is based on the magazine’s annual Franchise 500® rankings, which placed Dental Fix Rx at No. 185 of the top franchise opportunities in the United States.

The Dental Fix Rx corporate team provides all franchisees an intensive eight-week training program, as well as centralized technological and account management services. By handling the majority of the back-end office support, franchise owners are able to focus solely on servicing customers. Confident in its business model, the company is one of the only franchises to offer a franchise guarantee, refunding the franchise fee if new owners do not service 40 clients within his or her first year of business. The company also does not require franchisees to pay royalty fees.

* In order to qualify, prospective franchisees must attend the Franchise Expo West event, be an approved applicant, and execute a franchise agreement (no earlier than 14 full days after such prospective franchisee receives the Dental Fix Rx Franchise Disclosure Document). Selections will be made no earlier than 14 full days after the Franchise Expo West event from those applicants who attended the expo, completed the application, and received the Dental Fix Rx Franchise Disclosure Document.

Dental Fix Franchisee Gary McHale is Cooking Up Exceptional Service

TAKING CHARGE | Cooking Up Exceptional Service

Name: Gary McHale

Launched His Dental Fix Rx Franchise: May 2014

Service Area: Buffalo, New York

Before becoming a Dental Fix Rx franchisee, Gary McHale was an executive chef for a casino in Las Vegas. He worked there for 15 years and enjoyed the work but was not fond of the long hours required. Oftentimes, he would not get home until midnight or later. He decided he wanted to make a career change and own his own business, so he began looking into different franchise concepts. At first, he was drawn to restaurant and food franchises, since he found success in the culinary space with his previous career. However, none of them were the right fit. Gary was drawn to Dental Fix Rx because it allowed him to run his own business, while giving him a framework for success.

This was particularly important to Gary, who had no prior experience in the dental repair industry. He also liked that the Dental Fix Rx business model was mobile, since he did not want to deal with the insurance and other hassles of a brick and mortar location. After shadowing a Dental Fix Rx franchisee, Gary decided this was the right company and opportunity for investment. He launched his franchise in May 2014, and after celebrating his second anniversary this year, says it was one of the best business decisions he’s made.

QUESTION & ANSWER

DFX: How many hours do you typically put in? How has it evolved over the years?

Gary: It depends on the day. I enjoy the flexibility I have with Dental Fix to set my own hours, but whenever I get a service call, I answer it as quickly as possible. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot and am now able to get repairs done much quicker than before. When I started out, I would do about two repairs a day, and now I typically finish four projects per day. I get repairs done in about half the time it took me when I first started out, so it really is a learning process.

DFX: What’s your favorite thing about being a franchisee for Dental Fix Rx?

Gary: I really enjoy the people I get to work with, and that’s definitely my favorite part. You build relationships with different dentists and their employees, and you really get to know them well. I’m a people person and enjoy getting to meet different people all the time and seeing my repeat customers whenever they need me. I also really appreciate all the support we get from corporate. If I ever have a question or need some technical support, I can call someone and get the help I need right away.

DFX: What advice do you have for individuals who want to own their own franchise?

Gary: It’s important to be confident and communicate effectively. Positive communication is essential in any business, but it’s especially important for businesses where you interact with your customers on a daily basis. New franchisees should also be prepared to work hard to establish those relationships. It’s very rewarding to set your own hours and work for yourself, but you also need to make sure you are providing great service to your customers.

Dental Fix RX – Ownership Allows Franchisee to Hire Employee to Balance Workload

TAKING CHARGE| Ownership Allows Franchisee to Hire Employee to Balance Workload

Name: Fai Leung

Launched Dental Fix Rx Franchise: February 2016

Service Area: Dayton, Ohio

After graduating from Wright State University in 2007, Fai worked as a mechanical engineer for seven years at different companies. He also spent eight years designing pump motors and air compressors. But, he always wanted to be his own boss and own his own business. With the keen eye of an entrepreneur, Fai noticed equipment repair in the dental industry was lacking. He knew Dental Fix Rx would be a good fit for him.

He became a Dental Fix Rx franchisee in 2016, confident his mechanical engineering background would ensure dental offices remain operational. He was also attracted to the single operator business model, low overhead and support from corporate. Fai knew he had limited experience working on his own, but that didn’t stop him. Being in his 30s he figured if he didn’t take a chance, he would never know what his skill set and entrepreneurial spirit were capable of. In 2016, Dental Fix Rx named Fai Rookie of the Year, and in 2017 he was recognized as Franchise Owner of the Year.

QUESTION & ANSWER:

DENTAL FIX Rx: After becoming a franchisee, what was the biggest change in your daily life that you had to get used to? What’s your workday like now?

Fai: Your day-to-day focus becomes wider as a business owner because you have to wear many hats. For example, you have to market your business, manage your finances – you have to do it all yourself. So, starting out, the 40-hour week becomes more, especially when raising a family. But, also as a business owner, I’ve also been able to add an employee. Now my day starts at 7 a.m., I check my email, then I meet up with my employee at 8 a.m., and we head out to our first appointment. We get between five and eight calls a day – either doing repairs or dropping off handpieces. Then I’m home for dinner, play with my kids and do some administrative work.

DENTAL FIX Rx: What skills were you most surprised came in handy as a Dental Fix Rx franchisee?

Fai: I have a good understanding of how things work and how to use certain tools. That comes naturally to me. But, what surprised me the most is I how much greater my potential was. I used to think, “I’m just an engineer.” But, as a franchisee, I found out I’m so much more. My skills include selling, marketing and relationship building. I never knew that was in me until I had to do it. I learned a lot about myself.

DENTAL FIX Rx: If you could go back to day one as a Dental Fix Rx franchisee, what advice would you give yourself?

Fai: I would think about hiring someone a lot sooner than I did. I had grown the business to a point where I was having trouble keeping up with demand, which is a good problem to have. I felt like I was leaving a lot of opportunity on the table because I just wasn’t able to expand the business at a faster pace, but having somebody to help with the day-to-day is a huge help. Now I’m looking at expanding his role and adding another van.

Overcoming Several Challenges on One Job Leads to Lucrative Customer Relationship

MY MOST DIFFICULT REPAIR | Overcoming Several Challenges on One Job Leads to Lucrative Customer Relationship

Name: Michael Ryan

Dental Fix Rx Franchisee Since: October 2014

Service Area: Fort Worth, TX

Before becoming a Dental Fix Rx franchisee, Michael Ryan worked for a mining and recycling company, handling various accounts and responding to customer complaints. It was a desk job with long hours that required him to put in time on the weekends. But, he had planned to move up the ladder of the company. When that didn’t work out, Michael knew he needed a change. Since opening his Dental Fix Rx franchise three years ago, he has loved his flexible schedule. He now has time to take his kids to school and eat dinner with his family. Choosing Dental Fix Rx was a big change for Michael, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

QUESTION & ANSWER

DENTAL FIX Rx: What has been your most difficult repair experience?

Michael: I was hired to pick up, move and install the equipment for a new practice – chairs, compressors, sterilizers, the whole bit, as well as all the x-ray units. But, several non-repair hurdles came up, making the experience challenging. First, the truck rental company had lost the truck I rented to haul the equipment to the new practice. I had to drive 60 miles to get another. Then, the second truck did not run properly, so I had to drive another 20 miles to get another one. I was behind schedule and when I arrived on location, the office wasn’t open. I ended up having to call it a day. When I went back to do the work, which was in the middle of summer, the office did not have air conditioning yet, nor did it have water and electric running. What was supposed to be a three-day job ended up being four days.

DENTAL FIX Rx: How did you meet the challenge?

Michael: I just had to work through it. I had promised to do a job and after all the work it took to get there, I was determined to finish. In the end, it was well worth it.

DENTAL FIX Rx: What key takeaway did you have from this experience that others can learn from?

Michael: This practice is now one of my best customers. They have about 25 offices in Texas, and I manage all of them in my area. It’s just a fantastic relationship. The owner was there those couple of days, and he helped. We ended up going to dinner a lot, and he earned a lot of respect for my Dental Fix Rx franchise. That’s why we have such a great relationship now.
